I'M DAVID TEKVERK AND I LIKE TV AND FILM
I'm going for my undergraduate and I'm junior at SUNY Oswego. I'm from Islip Terrace, New York. So I grew up with New York City being my backyard. I was always the class clown in school, so I figured out early on that I want to entertain for a living. During high school we had a video studio where you can learn how TV is produced and how to edit videos. Even though that the equipment there was primitive, I was amazed about how everything worked! We had annual broadcasts for the talent shows and I always volunteered to direct them. By the time I graduated from High School, I received multiple awards for videos I made and a $1000 scholarship for video production.
When enrolled at SUNY Oswego I immediately joined WTOP-10, a small college TV station on campus. The station is well funded thanks to former alumni like Al Roker and Steve Levy. The station is entirely student run, so the amount of responsibilities you have are related to how much you want to do. So I started at the station as an editor, then I became a general crew member, then I became a PA and now I am the Director for all Original Production shows at the station.
Along with the experienced I gained at WTOP-10 I was also fortunate enough to get an internship at the CONAN show in Burbank California. The internship added additional polish to the skills that I learned throughout my career. I am making it a personal goal to keep on moving forward in the broadcasting field. And I don't plan on stopping anytime soon.
